January 23rd marks the one year anniversary of parcel + prose.
124th street is the heart of the neighbourhood I call home. I’ve lived and worked in this part of town for almost 20 years, and seen the changes that have taken place here. When I decided I wanted to open my own shop, I knew it had to be here. This is the kind of neighbourhood that supports small business, appreciates uniqueness and embraces change. We have been welcomed with open arms into the neighbourhood business community, and customers often comment on how happy they are to have us here.
My goal in opening parcel + prose was to give locals better options for stationery, greeting cards, wrapping paper, gifts, and to have a sense of humour about it. My favourite thing is when customers come in and spend time reading the cards and sharing a laugh. If you walk out of my shop with a smile on your face, then I have accomplished what I set out to do.
Our Artist of the month initiative has been a huge success thus far and I look forward to finding new creative locals to support. Edmontonians are incredibly supportive of local makers, and it’s wonderful to see so many local businesses thriving and helping each other.
Growing a business takes time, and I plan to be the go-to place for unique cards, pretty stationery and interesting gifts, so I’m very receptive to customer feedback. If I don’t have what you want, I will do my best to get it for you or help you find another option.
We opened our doors January 23rd, 2017 and so far it had been a whirlwind. They say time flies when you’re having fun, and I must admit, I’m having the time of my life.
Thank you for your continued support.
